Artist Statement

I create creatures that exist without prejudice. The creatures I draw are strange, funny and serious at the same time. They have features of humans, plants and animals. They connect to and communicate with each other and with the viewer.

These beings raise questions. They evoke associations, feelings and thoughts.

Experiences in life can be tragic and absurd at the same time. The absurd is a way of combining the contradictions in reality.

Experiences in life inspire me to create a fantasy world in which contradictory elements can exist together.

I use thread as a material. I am inspired by embroidery and textile traditions from all over the world. I like to travel the world in my mind.

My childhood experiences of living in many cultures are an ongoing inspiration for my artistic travels.
